How do I rent a Lego® set from Pocket Money Bricks
To get started you need to complete a short new customer registration form by clicking here. You will start out on our Bronze VIP tier.
We will then send you a Master Rental Agreeement to sign before or at the time of your first rental collection/delivery. This explains the terms under which we provide rental sets.
You are also welcome to join our Facebook group Pocket Money Bricks Rental to keep up to date with news and set availability.
Next you simply choose your set to rent from our list of available sets. Your first selection will be one of our Bronze level sets. You can reserve your set by contacting us via the Contact Us page on this website. Alternatively you can check out and pay straight away directly on this site - you will need to pay for a rental plus a Bronze deposit for your first Bronze rental.
Once you have made your selection, we will confirm the availability, price, and organise a start date for your rental, as well as your preference for delivery or collection. We'll confirm the amount owing and your payment method if you havent paid directly on this website.
At the time of your first rental check-out we will explain the whole process to you, and answer any additional questions you may have.
When you approach the end of your rental period (up to 7 days in advance) we will contact you to arrange the return process, which will be either delivered by you, or collected by us. We carry out the check-in verification process to make sure there are no missing parts, and after three working days your deposit will be returned to you (subject to deductions as per our terms)
Then, you can do the same for your next chosen Lego® set.
How do I know what sets are available to hire?
You can see the latest availability on this website, by viewing products in the appropriate VIP tier.
Where do I find the instructions?
You can find digital instructions on the Lego website here.
For more recent sets, also try the Lego Builder App on Google Play or App Store. This has even more options, including Build Together and 3D images that are zoomable, rotatable or saveable.
How do I repackage my set for return?
We supply all our sets in labelled bags, with a specific grouping of parts in each bag. Please follow our Bag inventory sheets to show which parts go in the Special Parts Bag (these are stickered parts, or expensive/hard to find parts), and use the colour coding to put the right colours (and if necessary type) of parts in the other bags.
The Special Parts Bag will always be checked off individually when the set is hired out to you (check-out) and again when the set is returned (check-in).
The remaining colour-coded bags will be weighed at both check-out and check-in, and we will carry out random checks for accuracy before we return your deposit. Sometimes we will carry out a full inventory check of all the parts in a set, just the same as when you use self-scanning apps in the supermarket.
What happens if I lose one or more parts?
This does happen occasionally. We all know that with Lego® parts, they can sometimes go astray either lost on a carpet, down the back of the sofa, pinched by children or pets.
If you lose or damage Special Parts we will deduct the replacement cost of these from your deposit, plus shipping costs from other parts suppliers. The cost we apply for each part is listed on the Special Parts Bag inventory sheet plus £2.50 shipping & handling cost (per order required to replace the parts)
If you lose a very small number of easily replaceable parts, we may ignore it, but we do request that you let us know so we can replace the parts before the next customer hires the set.
If you were to lose a whole section of a model, for example, then we would be unlikely to be able to overlook it, and would need to charge you the replacement cost for the lost parts - again these costs are shown on the inventory sheets.
Why do I need to pay a security deposit?
Whilst our service relies heavily on trust, occasionally problems do happen and we require a security deposit in order to reduce our risk in case a renter damages or loses parts from a set. Our deposits start at £15 for a Bronze set.
Security deposits are refundable once you complete a successful hire, including passing our return check-in inventory checks. Normally we would refund deposit balances up to three working days after your set has been returned.
You may also choose to carry-over your deposit to the next rental, and only pay the difference in deposit levels if you then hire a set that requires a higher deposit.
Can I leave my security deposit with you to use on a future rental?
Yes, if you choose to, any remaining (after deductions) deposit balances may be kept with us for use on a future rental. We must ask that you make another hire transaction within 90 days of your last rental, otherwise we will return unused deposits to you.
Each time you rent a set from us, we will check the deposits we already hold, and only charge you an additional top-up deposit if needed for the set you are about to rent.
If you are receiving a second rental set at the same time as handing over a completed rental, we will need to hold sufficient security deposit to cover both sets temporarily.
What payment methods do you accept?
You can pay by credit or debit card when you check out from this website.
Alternatively, if you choose to reserve your sets offline (by Contact Us, email, or WhatsApp) you can either pay by cash, by contactless card / Apple Pay / Google Pay using our card reader terminals at the start of your rental, or by bank transfer in advance.
We refund unused deposits by bank transfer within 3 days of completion of your hire, so we do also require your bank details. Your bank details will not be stored anywhere within Pocket Money Bricks systems, and will only be used one-time to set up a payment authority from our own bank account to yours.
I don’t want to disassemble the set. Can you do it for me?
Yes, but for us, time is money so if you want us to disassemble the set for you, we will make a charge for our time equivalent to 50% of the Standard Rental charge. Deposits in this case are only eligible for return 7 working days after the end of the rental period.
Why don’t you supply printed instructions?
Unfortunately, it is all too easy to damage the instructions, and if an instruction book gets used a dozen or so times, it will quickly become creased and torn. It is also very difficult to fairly assess the level of damage to an instruction manual on check-out and check-in, so we try to avoid this where we can.
What if there is a set I want to build, but you don’t have yet?
Simply let us know at pocketmoneybricks@outlook.com. From time to time we will review the most popular requests, and if necessary purchase additional sets so we can make these available to you for hire. If you haven’t yet completed your registration form, there is a section on the form for you to tell us about your most wanted sets to build.
I don’t have time to bag everything up but I’m sure everything is there. Can you just trust me that I returned the set complete?
If you choose not to accurately rebag the set on return, or if there are obvious errors in the rebagging, such as red parts in a black parts bag then we will need to rebag the set correctly ourselves. This will enable us to carry out our weighing and inventory checks correctly for each client. As always, our time is money, so we do make a charge for this, which will be deducted from your deposit. Deposits in this case are only eligible for return 7 working days after the end of the rental period.
