We have four tiers of VIP membership (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum) which offer access to different levels of set value and complexity. You move up the levels to access bigger and better sets by completing successful rentals at the lower levels.

What do the different VIP membership levels mean?

Bronze level membership provides access to the large selection of Bronze level sets

Silver level membership provides access to all of our Silver and Bronze level sets and a one-time Silver parts coupon to use in our BrickLink spare parts store

Gold level membership provides access to all of our Gold, Silver and Bronze level sets and a one-time Gold parts coupon to use in our BrickLink spare parts store

Platinum membership provides access to all of our Gold, Silver and Bronze level sets and a one-time Platinum parts coupon to use in our BrickLink spare parts store

What do the different set levels mean?

Bronze sets are most suitable for younger builders and family building. They are fun and less less challenging, and provide a chance to learn building techniques. Even for the more experienced builder our range may include sets that you have missed out on the chance to build in previous years. The standard rental period for Bronze sets is 2 weeks, but can be extended to 4 weeks for 50% extra rental charge. Some smaller Bronze sets are intended to be rented together as a group of two or four sets of your choosing in a single rental period.

Silver sets are the next level up in both size and complexity, and provide more challenge, and often more sophisticated technical features. The standard rental period for Silver sets is also 2 weeks, and can be extended to 4 weeks for 50% extra rental charge.

Gold sets are far larger, more challenging builds and hence the standard rental period is longer at 4weeks, to give the best chance at completing the build over a number of evenings after work, for example. The rental period can be extended to 8 weeks for 50% extra rental charge.

Platinum sets are the most challenging builds of all, and building several Platinum sets without our rental service would probably require an outlay of over £1,000. This is where our rental service can save you the most money, as you could be saving around £250 each time you build and return a Platinum rental set. The standard rental period is also 4weeks, and can be extended to 8 weeks for 50% extra rental charge.

Can I be the first person to build a brand new set?

We will be launching a “I built it first” service which, by invitation, will allow our most dedicated VIP builders to be the first to build a set “out of the box.” We will disassemble the set in these instances, so we can bag it up correctly for future builders - so there will be an additional charge for this special service that lets you build it first, but without the outlay of buying the set yourself.

How do I progress through the tier levels?

The standard starting point is Bronze level, with access to all our Bronze sets

After five successful Bronze rentals you will be eligible for upgrade to Silver, and have access to all Silver and Bronze sets. You will also be able to hire two Bronze sets or groups simultaneously if you choose. For the avoidance of doubt, one Bronze rental counts as either an individual set, or one group of (2 at a time) or one group of (4 at a time) Bronze sets.

After three successful Silver rentals you will be eligible for upgrade to Gold, and have access to all of our Gold, Silver and Bronze sets. You will also be able to hire two Silver or Bronze sets simultaneously if you choose.

After three successful Gold rentals you will be eligible for upgrade to Platinum, and have access to all our Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze sets. You will also be able to hire two Gold, Silver or Bronze sets simultaneously if you choose.

What is a successfully completed rental?

We consider a rental to be successfully completed if you returned the set 100% complete, undamaged, and bagged up according to our bagging inventory lists, on or before the due date. If you tell us about any problems you had with finding the parts to put in the bags, we will most likely still consider the rental to be successful.

If however, we (or the next Hirer) later discover parts missing (that were not notified), damaged, or in incorrect bags, or if there were more than a few parts missing especially Special Parts then we will either consider the rental unsuccessful or will temporarily flag the account for extra checks on future rentals. This is to be fair to everyone, as we don’t want future clients to have their build enjoyment affected by the mistakes made by another.

I’m an experienced builder – can I fast track my VIP membership through the tiers?

Our service works on a high degree of trust. We can make Lego® sets available to people who might never be able to afford to buy them outright, or which might be difficult to find. You need to trust that we will supply you with a complete set ready to build, and we need to trust that you can work with our hire and rebagging process and timescales, can use the digital instructions effectively, and develop a reputation for returning our sets complete, on time and correctly bagged ready for the next hirer to have the same great experience that you had. Our VIP tiers reflect your track record, and open up extra benefits to you, including access to bigger and more exciting Lego® sets to build.

The best way to fast-track your progress, is to complete and return your sets on or even before the hire due date. We do however recognise that choosing five Bronze sets may not be to everyone’s taste, so we offer a level-up boost to Silver on payment of a one-off £25 non-refundable fee, which avoids the need to complete the Bronze rentals. If you already have unsuccessful rentals to your name, or a flag for extra checks, you will not be eligible for the level-up boost.

What other benefits do I get for hiring Lego® sets through Pocket Money Bricks?

We operate a spare parts store (65,000 parts) through the online portal BrickLink (which is owned by The Lego Group). All hire clients have access to special free shipping, provided your order is collected or delivered at the same time as a rental set. We only charge 50p handling fee instead of the regular £1.85 minimum shipping charge. Please use the shipping option “Free Delivery / Collection for Rental Customers only” when checking out your basket, and include your Pocket Money Bricks VIP number in the order notes on the checkout screen.

Each time you progress through the VIP membership tiers, you will also receive a complimentary Level-Up coupon, which you can use to buy your choice of Lego parts from our spare parts store.
